A Good Day to Say "I love you"
Today is Valentines Day. I know many have become jaded about this day designed to show love to their best girl or guy. Many argue it’s too commercial. Well, everything in this country has become too commercial – birthdays, anniversaries, Valentines Day, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas and Hanukkah as well as other celebrations. They’re often all about candy and flowers – not love.
But here’s the thing. It doesn’t have to be that way. Here are five ways we can honor our best loves with heartfelt messages of affection:
Tell Mom you love and are dreaming of her home made chili on this cold February day.
(If you live in Florida, maybe mention her awesome tacos, rice and beans.)
2. Remind Dad of the time he carried you all the way to the local clinic when you broke your leg. And then bought you a bright red lollipop to take away the pain.
3. Hug your husband, wife or other significant other and just say, “I love you.”
4. Get down on the floor and play with your child, your dog, your cat, or your pet tiger for one hour – making up for your so busy week when each had to go it alone.
5. Call on a friend who needs encouragement. Say something happy, warm or funny. Don’t leave until you see a smile on their face.
Be encouraged to make a love difference out there today.
